Anna May Wong is known as the first Chinese American woman to break down the barriers of the acting industry in Hollywood. She paved the stage towards the development of a more accepting industry and society that doesn’t antagonize and discriminate against Chinese Americans the same way she experienced throughout her varied career in silent film, radio, sound films, stage, and television.
